Governmental Prayer for Nations — Impacting Global Activity in the Spirit


Governmental prayer is a form of breakthrough, penetrating prayer that advances the purposes of God both locally and globally. It is carried by believers who intentionally seek the will of God for their church, their region, and the worldwide body of Christ.

These intercessors align themselves with God’s divine agenda, releasing His will through strategic declarations and decrees. As it is written, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). Their prayers are not passive, they are intentional, authoritative, and rooted in spiritual insight.

Governmental prayer functions as targeted spiritual warfare, designed to confront and overturn the strategies of the enemy while establishing the rulership and dominion of God in the earth. Scripture affirms, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4–5).

Through this level of intercession, believers partner with heaven to influence outcomes, shift atmospheres, and bring divine order into alignment with God’s purposes. As declared in Job 22:28, “You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you; so light will shine on your ways.”

Governmental prayer also reflects the authority given to the believer: “Behold, I give you authority… over all the power of the enemy” (Luke 10:19), and “Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 18:18).

Ultimately, this dimension of prayer is about standing in the gap as watchmen and intercessors, as seen in Ezekiel 22:30, where God sought one to stand in the gap on behalf of the land. It is through this posture that believers enforce victory, advance the Kingdom, and establish God’s dominion in the earth.

UK Pastor Arrested Over Comments on Homosexuality
Dale McAlpine, a pastor in the United Kingdom, has been arrested after saying homosexuality is a sin.

Last week, McAlpine was street preaching when he was approached by police officers, who told him it was illegal to preach against homosexuality. McAlpine maintains he did not mention anything about homosexuality in his preaching, but was arrested and spent seven hours in a cell.

“I’m stunned,” McAlpine said. “I’m just an ordinary, law-abiding Christian who wants to share his faith with the public.”

Mike Judge, head of communications with The Christian Institute in Great Britain, said McAlpine is scheduled to stand trial in September.

“We’re very much hoping that the case will be dropped by the public prosecutor before it even gets to trial,” he said. “But, if it gets to trial, we will be defending him very robustly.”

Christian groups in the U.S. expressed concern that similar arrests could be made here. Marc Stern, general counsel for the American Jewish Congress, said the U.S. has yet to see a case like McAlpine’s.

“In the United States, speech rights are still pretty strong,” he said. “It’s likely they’ll be tested over the next few years.”

Judge said many Christians in Great Britain didn’t believe laws passed 10 years ago would be used against them. He cautions Americans to be vigilant.

“You should be aware of what is being passed by your legislatures,” he said, “because these laws further down the road can be used to infringe on liberties.”
